For Referring Vets

I work alongside referring vets to give brachycephalic patients the best outcome, whether that's a quick second opinion or full surgical care. You're welcome to stay as involved in your patient's care as you'd like.

How to refer

  1. Send the patient's clinical history, including any relevant imaging, bloods and previous anaesthetic notes, to doctoremabowman@gmail.com.

  2. Ask the owner to complete the Brachycephalic Health Assessment Questionnaire. I need both before I can review the case.

  3. Tell me which kind of support you'd like (see below).

Choose your level of support

  • Case discussion and co-management: The patient stays with you, and I help guide diagnosis and management by phone or video. This suits medical management, pre-surgical planning, or cases where you'd like a second opinion.

  • Full referral for surgery: I take over the surgical side of care at Vets in Zillmere (Brisbane) or Great Western Animal Hospital (Pendle Hill, Sydney), and the patient comes back to you for ongoing care.

Stay involved

You're welcome to take part in your patient's care, including coming in to observe surgery. Just let me know when you refer.

After the consult or surgery

You'll receive a written report by email within 48 hours covering my findings, what was done and the recommended follow-up.
